• Prevents Fluid Ingress: Its main role is to protect the delicate electrical connector and internal components of the endoscope from fluid penetration during manual cleaning, soaking, and automated reprocessing (e.g., in an Automated Endoscope Reprocessor - AER).
• Damage Prevention: By sealing the light guide connector, it prevents water and reprocessing chemicals from entering the endoscope's interior, which could cause damage, malfunction, or costly repairs.
• Airtight Seal for Leakage Tests: When used in conjunction with a leakage tester (such as the Olympus MB-155), the MH-553 creates a crucial airtight seal. This allows for the inflation of the endoscope with air to detect any punctures, tears, or damage in the external sheath or internal channels.
