Bauxite Washing Equipment
1.Product Introduction
Bauxite washing equipment serves as critical pretreatment machinery for raw bauxite ore. Its primary function is to remove surface-attached clay, fine silt, and siliceous impurities through hydraulic action. This process elevates the ore grade and provides high-quality raw material for the subsequent Bayer Process in alumina refining. Common configurations include Trommel Scrubbers, Log Washers (Spiral Washers), and Vibrating Washing Screens.
2.Application
Bauxite Pre-treatment: Reducing silica and other impurity levels before the ore enters the Bayer refinery. This increases the Alumina-to-Silica (A/S) ratio, thereby reducing caustic soda consumption and red mud discharge.
Mining Beneficiation: Specifically designed for bauxite ores with high mud content and high susceptibility to sliming; widely used in open-pit mines across tropical regions such as Australia, Guinea, and Brazil.
Environmental Protection & Resource Recovery: Integrated with wastewater circulation systems to achieve water reuse and fine-silt recovery, aligning with modern Green Mine standards.
3.Working Principle
Feeding & Wetting: Raw ore is uniformly fed into the washing machine via vibrating feeders, where it undergoes initial wetting through fresh water sprays.
Mechanical Cleaning:
Trommel Scrubber: Ore is repeatedly lifted and dropped by internal lifters within a tilted, rotating drum. The resulting mutual friction and water rinsing strip away stubborn clay lumps.
Log/Spiral Washer: Ore is agitated and scrubbed by rotating spiral paddles in a U-shaped trough. This creates a counter-current washing effect where impurities are carried away by the overflow water.
Separation & Dewatering: The washed ore is classified via vibrating screens or hydrocyclones. Cleaned coarse particles are discharged from the outlet, while fine mud and wastewater enter the recovery system.
